The origin of the phrase, “MORE
THROTTLE, LESS BRAKE!” |
In
1955,
when
Brian
was
18
years
old,
he
attended
the British Grand Prix with his
father and grandfather. In the race Stirling Moss won, followed closely
by Juan Fangio, both driving a Mercedes W196. Rumor had it that Fangio
could have passed Moss, but he let the Englishman win as he was racing
in front of a home audience.
After the race Brian approached Fangio and asked him how he went so
fast. Fangio told Brian it was simple. “More throttle, less brake.”
